Brief description

New York Sea Grant is a statewide network of integrated research, education, and extension services promoting coastal economic vitality, environmental sustainability and citizen awareness and understanding about the State’s marine and Great Lakes resources.  Our research calls request projects on climate change impacts on our coastal resources.  Our team of extension professionals provides climate change information throughout New York’s coastal areas.  We have previously hosted climate change training for extension professionals in both the Land and Sea grant systems and held workshops on coastal processes and shoreline management in the face of climate change and sea level rise.  We are currently developing Climate Change curriculum for teachers in the Hudson Valley and designing workshops for Great Lakes local governments which will introduce them to the multiple planning tools and technologies which are available for use in planning for climate change adaptation.
