Program goals

Understanding the drivers and ecosystem consequences of biodiversity loss in riverine systems

Brief description of program

One research theme of Dr. Flecker is understanding the relative vulnerability of species to climate change in tropical versus temperate riverine systems. He is especially interested in placing his work in the context of ecosystem-level consequences of biodiversity loss due to factors such as overharvest and habitat destruction, or species additions via invasions. His work is international including freshwater ecosystems of South America, Mesoamerica, and the Caribbean.
